Oasis of the Seas Leaves on Sea Trials

Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas left the STX Europe yard in Turku (Finland) this week for sea trials. The photo below, shows a rear view of the 220,000-ton vessel which gives a good view of the ship's open interior courtyard and some of the ship's signature features.
The above photo was taken shortly before Oasis left Turku. Allure of the Seas, can be seen just behind it in the drydock.

Flying above Oasis is the aerostat (a type of tethered balloon) which RCCL chairman Richard Fain blogged about recently. It's an experiment of an additional feature for Oasis, which he said he gives less than a 50% chance of actually being implemented. He will neither confirm nor deny the rumors about the use the company would have for the aerostat.

We also have video of the ship's departure on our blog. Oasis of the Seas is scheduled to enter service in November 2009.
