Meyer Werft Cuts Steel for First Disney Ship

The first piece of steel cut for the first of two newbuilds for Disney Cruise Line was a piece of the art deco-inspired scrollwork that will appear on the ship's bow. The 128,000-ton vessels will be delivered by Meyer Werft in 2011 and 2012.
On hand for the steel-cutting at the Papenburg yard were (l to r) Philip Gennotte (Project Manager, Meyer Werft), Karl Holz (President, DCL), Mickey Mouse (DCL) and Bernard Meyer (Meyer Werft), Frank de Heer (Project Manager, DCL).
