Queen Victoria Meets Queen Mary

Queen Victoria stopped by Long Beach Harbor after leaving the Port of Los Angeles on Friday (March 4, 2011) to rendezvous with the original Queen Mary which is now permanently moored as a hotel and tourist attraction. It marks only the second time in history one of Cunard's modern Queens has visited the iconic ship. (The first was in February 2006 when Queen Mary 2 visited her namesake.) The event began with a whistle salute between the two, and that triggered a celebratory fireworks display over the harbor to mark the first-time meeting of the two Cunard Queens.
