Costa Romantica Opens New Terminal at Tianjin

Costa Romantica made the first call at Tianjin's (China) new cruise terminal on Saturday (June 26, 2010). Tianjin is the port city for Beijing. The new terminal is seen here from the deck of the ship. Costa was chosen to make the first call because of its leadership role in the Chinese-sourced market. Costa began operating in Asia in 2006, and Costa Romantica represents the line's second capacity increase.
The state-of-the-art terminal is only the first of several planned for the Xingang port development that when complete will be able to handle six large cruise ships at a time. The first terminal building, shown here, is more than 635,000 square feet and can handle 4,000 passengers at once.
