Disney Dream Hull Completed

The last of the 80 blocks - this one the 260-ton bow section - is lifted into place at Meyer Werft's covered building dock in Papenburg, Germany, on Monday.

Note the level of completion in the ship's interior where the bow is about to be attached.

The focus here is probably supposed to be on Captain Mickey and Disney Cruise Line president Karl Holz, but we included this photo because it shows the typical level of detail Disney is building into the ship. Note the silhouettes of the Disney characters in the surf which are incorporated into the scroll work on the bow.

Holtz (right) and Captain Mickey congratulate Bernard Meyer of Meyer Werft on a job well done on Tuesday. (Why, by the way, is Mickey the only one without a hardhat?) Work will continue in the ship's interior until delivery in early January, with the maiden voyage set for January 26, 2011.
