MSC Magnifica Completes Sea Trials

MSC Magnifica is shown here on Sunday (January 17) returning to the STX yard at St. Nazaire (France) after the successful completion of a three-day sea trial. Some 60 tests were performed during the voyage, and despite the 50-knot winds encountered on Saturday, the ship still performed up to the expectations of the team of 300 technicians onboard.

MSC Magnifica is the fourth in the 92,400-ton Musica class. Unlike her sisters, however, MSC Magnifica has a retractable dome over one of its swimming pools which will make the ship ideally suited to year round operation in the Mediterranean.

The ship is scheduled to be handed over to MSC on February 25 and will enter service when it is christened by Sophia Loren on March 6 in Hamburg.
